Chief Quill described what the course covered, and why these training tactics are important. Councilor Jacobs said he firmly believes in courses such as this one, and because of the recent severe fires in surrounding cities, and the death of two firefights, it only underscores the importance of this fire training. He also questioned if the fires would be live or canned smoke. Chief Quill wished to express how important he felt this course was towards helping make firefights from the surrounding towns feel comfortable with the Auburn firefighters, and vice versa.
In case of a bad fire, the City relied on the surrounding towns for reinforcements, and firefights had to be comfortable working with each other. The Chief said yes, this was working towards helping fire companies learn to work with each other. Councilor Jacobs said he felt this training was important, and urged safety precautions based on the training drill recently held in another city when the Assistant Fire Chief is now facing indictment for the death of a firefighter.
